Carbon nanotubes(CNT)/ polyethylene(PE) bending actuator has been fabricated by attaching CNT bucky paper onto a commercial PE film utilizing “domino-pushing” method of vertically aligned CNT forest. CNT/PE bi-layer actuator shows unique bending characteristics depending on the stretching direction of PE film. CNT/PE actuator shows fast responses to electrical and photonic stimuli. Orientation dependence of actuation behavior is demonstrated as well as a self-walking inchworm operating by natural fluctuation of solar irradiation.
